Carrying signs, chanting and marching through Central Richmond, roughly 40 community members came out to support victims and survivors of sexual assault and gender-based violence at the annual Take Back The Night event on April 6.
According to a new study, teenagers who listen to rap become sexually active earlier than their peers. The study found that when middle school students listened to rap for three or more hours a day, they were more likely to believe that their peers had become sexually active, and subsequently more likely to try sex themselves by ninth grade.
Oakland native and 20-year-old R&B singer Kehlani reportedly attempted suicide earlier this week. She posted a photo on Instagram of herself hospitalized with an IV in her arm. Part of the caption included, “Today I wanted to leave this earth. Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I’d get to such a low point.”
Richmond Main Street Initiative and the Richmond Arts And Culture Commission will sponsor a reception for the Art In Windows Spring 2016 exhibit from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at 402 Harbor Way.
