Thompson’s Corner Saloon on Cordelia Road in unincorporated Fairfield is open and operating as usual after being vandalized with graffiti in early August.
“We have taken care of the hateful graffiti that was found on the side of our establishment,” a spokesman for the owners said. “We extend our sincerest apologies to anyone who was affected by these hurtful words.”
The Solano County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s assistance in its investigation of what the Sheriff’s Department says is clearly a hate crime.
Deputies responded Aug. 8 to a report of vandalism at the saloon where they found swastikas and racial slurs written in red spray paint along the outer walls of the business.
They immediately began an investigation into it as a hate crime.
“Deputies from our patrol, resident deputy and investigations teams are all working to identify suspect(s) and hold accountable the responsible person,” a Sheriff’s Office spokesman said. “We obtained a still photograph from the business surveillance video. We are asking the community for their assistance in identifying the person(s) of interest.”
The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Fairfield Police Department and other community organizations to find the perpetrators. “This act of racism is horrifying and offends our entire community,” the spokesperson added.
The Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public. Anyone with information should contact the Investigations Bureau at (707) 784-7061.
